About

this is just a glimpse of God's grace at work in my life. i pray that it will be an encouragement to others on the journey.

What do you call someone who is twenty-seven, not finished with school (undergrad), still living with his parents, doesn’t have his own bed or bedroom and drives a gas-hogging 1984 Ford pick-up truck? Some people would identify this type of person as a “LOSER.” And I would have agreed with that assesment to some degree up until a couple of days ago. I identify this person as “me.” Yes sir, I fit the description.

But, as I have recently been meditating on the direction that God is leading me (missions), I cannot help but think that the characteristics that I have mentioned above are actually blessings. If the Lord called me to move to the mission field tomorrow, I could do it with very little difficulty. I don’t have many financial responsiblities; I don’t have a house; I don’t have a lot of things. And the things that I do have, I would have no problem finding a suitable home for. Relatively speaking, I am in a great place in my life right now.

And because I have lived with circumstances such as not having a bed and, consequently, many times having to sleep on the floor, it would not be hard to adapted to an un-American way of life. I am starting to see this as part of God’s great blessings rather than the result of my failures. He is definitely at work. I am excited to see how God prepares His servants for His calling.

I am going to continue to pray concerning the course of life in which I believe God is leading me. I would encourage anyone who reads this post to consider such things as what I have mentioned above as sovereign blessings. Give up your worldly ambitions and possesions for the Gospel’s sake. God cares for you. He created you with the desires that you have. He wants to glorify Himself by fulfilling your need. But, first, pursue the glory of His kingdom.

This is “grace at work.”
